Part of the Celebrating Women series, this portrait honors a woman awakening to her beauty, resilience, and self-worth.
The Beholder’s Pride - She belongs to my ‘Celebrating Women' series, dedicated to the strength and resilience that I’ve seen embodied in innumerable women. The initial paintings in the series represent women who have their eyes shut, not sure of how to express what they feel within. The women in the series evolve as they become aware of their beauty and strength, and as they begin to question social norms. She is wearing the 'gele' (head-wrap) and lovely coral jewellery while she admires the flowers from her fiancée. She is unsure of her beauty, hesitantly acknowledging it, because her fiancée perceives her as beautiful today. Medium: Acrylic Paint on Canvas. Painting is stretched on wood and ready to be hung!
